Saliva hormone tests reflect the tissue
concentration of your hormones. Blood and serum tests contain the
total hormone, but your tissue are only bathed with the active or
effective fraction as found in saliva. Active fraction measurements
are superior to blood and urine measurements both in diagnosis and
treatment.
Healthway Compounding Pharmacy uses ZRT
Laboratory for saliva diagnostic purposes.
Notes: It may
be useful to review hormone imbalance symptoms, please review hormone symptoms
list, before deciding with hormone test to
order.
For a comprehensive overview of your
hormone status, ZRT Laboratory recommends estradiol,
progesterone, testosterone, DHEAS, and cortisol
(AM/PM)>
If you suffer from excessive fatigue,
depression, and anxiety ZRT Laboratory recommends you test cortisol
both in the morning and evening.
If you are supplementing with a hormone,
ZRT Laboratory advices you take the saliva test for that
hormone. For example, test estriol if you are using a vaginal
estriol cream - also test estradiol.
Each test includes a short personal
consultation either over the phone or in person.
Hormones Available for Testing
(Saliva Collection):
AM Cortisol
(C) $45.00
Cortisol is a hormone produced by the adrenal glands
that regulates the stress response and many biochemical functions
including glucose metabolism and immune function.
Cortisol has a catabolic (breaking down) action on the body when
levels are too high or out of balance. This test is
recommended with situational stress and fatigue; indicator of
adrenal imbalance.
AM/PM
Cortisol $60.00
Recommended with excess stress, morning and evening
fatigue, difficulty sleeping, etc.; indicator of adrenal
dysfunction.
Adrenal Function Test
(AFT) $150.00
Adrenal imbalance or low adrenal reserve is a result
of excessive stress, overworked adrenal glands fail to produce
balanced levels of the hormones cortisol and DHEA. Adrenal
exhaustion occurs when the adrenals no longer produce enough hormone
to meet your body's demand, a result of prolongs stress. The
adrenal function test is the best comprehensive assessment of
adrenal gland function. It is recommended with excessive
stress, chronic fatigue, sleep disorders and allergies. It is
an indicator of immune function. Tests include DHEA's and four
cortisols: morning, noon, evening, and night.
DHEA-S $45.00
Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) is a hormone made mostly
by the adrenal glands. It converts into androgens, like
testosterone and estrogens. Its actions influence energy,
stamina, mental outlook and immune function. DHEA testing is
recommended with androgen deficiency or excess symptoms. It is
an indicator of stress level, mental performance an insulin
resistance.
Estradiol
(E2) $45.00
Estradiol is the most predominant of the
estrogens. Testing is recommended with symptoms of estrogen
deficiency or excess. Estradiol is best tested in combination
with progesterone since an imbalance of these two hormones is
associated with menopause symptoms and disorders of the reproduction
system. It is recommended that Estradiol levels be measured
when using a compounded prescription of estrogens
containing Estradiol.
Estriol
(E3) $45.00
Estriol levels should be measured when using a
compounded prescription of estrogens containing Estriol.
Estrone
(E1) $45.00
Estrone testing is recommended when using a compounded
preparation of strogens containing Estrone.
Hormone Profile I ( 5
Tests) $150.00
Good basic assessment of overall steroid hormone
balance or imbalance and association with specific symptoms.
It is an indicator of hypthryrodism, bone loss and insulin
resistance. Kit includes: Estradiol (E2), Progesterone (Pg),
Testosterone (T), DHEA's, and morning Cortisol (C).
Hormone Profile II + PM Cortisol (
6 Tests) $180.00
Hormone Profile II is the most comprehensive
evaluation of overall hormone balance or imbalance. It's an
indicator of thyroid and adrenal function; breast cancer
profile. The kit includes all the tests in Hormone Profile I
plus PM Cortisol (C4).
Hormone Profile III + AFT ( 8
Tests) $240.00
Hormone Profile III provides the most complete and
in-depth evaluation of hormone balance, imbalance and
interrelationship of specific hormone levels as related to symptoms
of menopause, andropause and adrenal function. Kit includes
eight test: Estradiol (E2), Progesterone (Pg), Testosterone
(T), DHEA's and 'Diurnal Cortisol' (all four cortisols: morning
(C1), noon (C2), evening (C3), and night (C4).
Progesterone
(Pg) $45.00
Progesterone testing is recommended with symptoms of
deficiency or excess. It is best tested in conjunction with
estradiol as an imbalance of these two hormones is associated with
menopause symptoms and disorders of the system.
Testosterone
(T) $45.00
Testosterone is an anabolic or "building" hormone that
possess a unique chemical structure designed to maintain lean body
mass and bone density, while facilitation skin elasticity, sex drive
and cardiovascular health in both men and women. The
Testosterone test is recommended with deficiency or excess
symptoms. It is an indicator of low sex drive, hair
loss/excess, muscle and bone status.
Before deciding which hormones or
hormone profiles to test, please review hormone
symptoms list. Two or more
persistent symptoms in any given category is a strong indication of
hormonal imbalance and the need to test levels of that specific
hormone or profile .
ADDITIONAL NOTES:
- Hormone Users: You do not
have to go off hormone therapy to take the test; please refer to
"Men or Women Taking Hormones" in your test kit instructions
for details of when to collect while supplementing. We do advise
testing those hormones you are currently being supplemented with
for purposes of monitoring safety and efficacy.
- For a comprehensive overview we
recommend:
Hormone Profile II - This
tests estradiol,( the most potent of the estrogens) progesterone,
testosterone, DHEA-S, and cortisol
(AM/PM).
- For symptoms of Adrenal
Imbalance such as excessive
fatigue, depression, allergies and/or anxiety we recommend:
AM/PM Cortisol, in Saliva.
This test measures cortisol levels twice in the same day (morning
and evening).
Adrenal Function Test is
recommended for moderate to severe symptoms. This profile
evaluates complete adrenal function with 4-same day
(morning, noon , evening, bedtime) cortisol collections. To ensure
accuracy, cortisol collections should take place two-hours
apart from food or drink other than
water.
