Michael E. Collins, R.Ph., F.I.A.C.P., owner and president of Healthway Compounding Pharmacy of St. Charles and Saginaw, Michigan has been practicing the art of compounding for over 20 years.  He opened Healthway  Pharmacy in 1985 when he took over what was then known as Bob’s Pharmacy in St. Charles. Originally starting out as a traditional pharmacy, Mike saw the need for the formulation of medications for humans and animals outside of

what was commercially available. So he built a compounding lab in his pharmacy and began compounding specialty medications. Soon, however, the word spread of these individualized medications.  The lab needed to be expanded.  

In 1994 a new pharmacy was built on Saginaw Street in St. Charles, Michigan, hosting a fully operational state-of-the-art compounding lab.  Instead of the gifts and food items that where part of the original Healthway, only nutritional supplements, homeopathic remedies, herbal products and the like can be found as over-the-counter items.  Mike’s practice grew by leaps and bounds and patients from several counties were ordering specialty prescription medication.  To accommodate these patients, a second  pharmacy was opened in January of 2001. The new pharmacy is a compounding-only pharmacy located in Saginaw, Michigan. 

To maintain his proficiency in compounding, Mike and the other pharmacists and technicians take continuing education courses and attend special seminars designed to keep them up-to-date with new developments and techniques.

Mike is a Certified Menopause Educator and a Certified Anti-aging Specialist through the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine.

The fellowship is open to physicians, physician assistants, nurse clinicians and pharmacists and will take 12 months to complete. Fellowship participants will leave the fellowship competent to practice Anti-Aging and Functional Medicine without supervision in his or her area of medical specialty. 

Anti-aging medicine is a clinical/medical specialty and field of scientific research aimed at the early detection, prevention, treatment, and reversal of age-related decline.  

A 1980 graduate of Ferris State College of Pharmacy in Big Rapids, Michigan, Mike is a Fellow of both the American College of Apothecaries and the International Academy of Compounding Pharmacists.  Prior to purchasing what is now Healthway Pharmacy, Mike worked for Sanford Family Pharmacy of Sanford, Michigan; Nugent Drugs, formerly of Midland, Michigan; and Smith Pharmacy of Lansing, Michigan.  Throughout his career, Mike has been very community-minded, supporting numerous organizations through donations of his time and money.  He has also been a featured speaker for several professional organizations and colleges, educating the medical community and the general public about the benefits of compounding.

His accomplishments in compounding have earned him the respect of his colleagues across the United States and the status of being in the top ten percent of his profession. He has received the following awards:
